The Challenge

On a farm housing breeding sows, the generation of manure can represent significant potential as an organic fertilizer. However, if not managed properly, this practice can lead to soil oversaturation with nitrates, contaminating aquifers and the subsoil.

Therefore, the challenge of this project has been to achieve proper management of the slurry and its application as organic fertilizer to the crops of the available hectares, in order to reduce the environmental impacts associated with manure management and make the most of the farm's available resources.

The Solution

The solution has been the implementation of the RAACPUR plant to treat pig manure generated by the sow farm, with the aim of transforming the manure into a fertilizer that could be applied to the farm's available hectares for agricultural use. This treatment process involves separating the liquid and solid fractions. The liquid fraction is the part that is applied through sprinkler irrigation. In this way, the fertilizer is distributed evenly, allowing plants to optimally absorb the nutrients.

Another important aspect of this plant is that it utilizes one hundred percent of the water used in the manure treatment process, so no liquid waste is generated, and therefore, there is no negative environmental impact associated with the management of the manure.

Sustainable management of livestock manure as an organic fertilizer is a commitment to environmental sustainability and the economic efficiency of the farm.
