The importance of people in Digital Transformation

Digital transformation has become a topic of great relevance in the business world, comparable in importance to the Industrial Revolution in its time. In fact, it is considered the continuation of the history of the industrial revolutions. The first one, 1.0, was the period of mechanization, followed by 2.0, which brought the use of electricity, and 3.0, which marked the era of computing. Now, we are living the Industrial Revolution 4.0, known as the digitalization revolution, where digital transformation is the key element. This revolution is changing the way organizations operate and how people live their lives.

The internet has had a profound impact that has unavoidably infiltrated customer relationships, management of production processes, and even the way we interact with suppliers. This technological revolution marks a significant event in the history of humanity.

Digital transformation is a process that unfolds rapidly and inexorably. In this sense, no country, economic sector, or organization can afford not to adapt. Digital transformation is no longer just a strategy for the future, but offers an essential competitive advantage for survival. It is not an objective to achieve, but an imperative necessity, motivated by the strength and speed with which digitalization has invaded and permeated our society.

However, in the midst of this exciting technological evolution, a fundamental element is often overlooked: people. Digital transformation is not only about technology; it is, above all, about people. People are the ones who really transform organizations, and technology is just a means to achieve it.

In this context, understanding the audience to which digital transformation is directed and why it is essential is crucial. This process of change not only involves modifications in the organization but also a change in the skills and attitudes of professionals, highlighting the importance of the human element in this entire process. Thus, one of the most relevant challenges occurs when digital natives, who have grown up in a digital world, collaborate with digital immigrants, who have had to adapt to the new technological reality.

On the other hand, to achieve successful digital transformation, it is necessary to create the right conditions within the organization. This includes factors such as digital maturity, solid leadership, team training and development, and a corporate culture that fosters innovation and continuous learning. It is essential to establish a participatory work environment, where employees feel motivated and committed to change.

Likewise, it is fundamental to start with human and market needs, instead of focusing solely on technological solutions. Technology is a means to meet these needs and solve real problems. It is essential, therefore, to understand what problems you want to address and how digital tools can contribute to achieving this.

We can say, therefore, that digital transformation is a revolution that involves both technology and the human element. It is an evolution that is changing our society and our way of doing business, and understanding the importance of people in this process places us in a better position to take advantage of the opportunities that this change offers us.
